Today's lessons is about being on guard against religious hypocrisy.
It call us also to humble, service and lay down our lives for others.

Here is a beautiful prayer written by Saint Ignatius of Loyola 

Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve.
To give and not to count the cost.
To fight and not to heed the wounds.
To toil and not to seek for rest.
To labor and not to ask for reward.
Save that of knowing that I am doing your will.
Amen

Monday of the Second Week of Lent

Be merciful, don't judge, don't condemn, freely forgive,
 and be generous,says Jesus in today's Gospel reading.

Today lets reflect on God's mercy and love.

O Lord my God,
In your mercy, wash me.
In your Love, heal me.
In your Divinity, strengthen me.
In Your Majesty, command me to do your Holy Will.

Second Sunday of Lent

The Readings
Genesis 15: 5-12; 17-18; Psalm 27:1 - 14; Philippians 3:17 - 4:1; Luke 9:28-36

This Sunday’s Gospel reading is of the transfiguration of the Lord. The Lord allowed His divinity to shine through His humanity. This is a good example for us during this season of Lent. We are called to be more in the likeness of Jesus. We are called to be lights in this world, shining with the love of Jesus.  

Blessed are they who follow the law of the Lord!

Saturday of the First Week of Lent 

The Readings
Deuteronomy 26:16-19; Psalm 119:1-2, 4-5, 7-8;  Matthew 5:43-48
Today’s readings correspond with each other very effectively; by reading them, we learn that Jesus wills us, above all, to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. We are to “follow the law of the Lord,” in the words of Psalm 119, and “observe the statutes, commandments, and decrees of God,” as Moses tells the people in Deuteronomy 26. Jesus knows that we can only do our best to follow His commandments. 

Friday of the First Week in Lent

The Readings

Ezekiel 18:21-28; Psalm 130:1-8; Matthew 5:20-26

Renew us and prepare us.
Our lesson today is about reconcilliation
Our Lord forgives us all our sins -
nothing can seperate us from the love of God for us in Jesus
And we are called to forgive others
with the same compassion, mercy, patience, and love given to us.

Our Lenten practices help us to
experience the renewing love of God,
and they prepare us for our journey to Easter"
to celebrate the mystery of our death to self
and rebirth in the new life Jesus won for us.

I do not wish the sinner to die, says the Lord,
but to turn to me and live.

Thursday of the First Week in Lent

The readings:
Esther 4:17 Psalm 137:1-3,7-8 Matthew 7:7-12

The first reading for today’s Liturgy shows God answering the prayer of Queen Esther. In the Gospel for today, he assures us he will hear our prayer too: “Ask, and you will receive. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you.

Prayer is the most important conversation of the day !

Wednesday of the First Week in Lent

The Readings

Jonah 3:1-10; Psalm 51:3-4, 12-13, 18-19; Luke 11:29-32

Daily Meditation: 
Hear our prayer.
The Wednesdays and Fridays of Lent take on a more penitential tone. 
Our longing intensifies. 
We know we have to work hard to resist temptation 
and to change some of our bad habits. 
We know that spiritual renewal won't come easy. 
But we know that all we will ultimately be able to do 
will come from God's inspiration - as a gift. 
So we ask from a deeper and deeper place in our hearts.

We listen to the wonderful children's story about Nineveh. 
They responded to God's word and repented.

My sacrifice, O God, is a contrite spirit;
a heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.

Tuesday 1st Week of Lent

PRAY ! He has given us life:He has also taught us how to pray.

Monday of the First Week of Lent

Bring us back to you.
We repeat our desire that God bring us home from our wandering. 
We know that in the confusion that surrounds us and can fill us, 
we need the gift of Wisdom.

It is fitting that our very first “lesson” in our faith, 
is the last judgment scene that Jesus paints for us. 
We will be judged on whether we: 
  fed the hungry 
  welcomed the stranger 
  clothed the naked 
  comforted the sick 
  visited the imprisoned. 
It is powerful to re-learn this wisdom - 
Jesus identifies with each of these “least” cared for.

Who might we feed, welcome, clothe, comfort or visit this week? 
As my heart might “resist” this mission, 
I might beg to be brought back, with all my heart.

FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT

The Lord is understanding, His mercy will not fail, His love for you is infinite, His wisdom will prevail. Remember this each morning and you’ll not be afraid to face with growing confidence The Day The Lord Has Made.

Ash Wednesday is the first day of the penitential season of Lent.

Ash Wednesday Prayer

Father in Heaven,
the light of your truth bestows sight
to the darkness of sinful eyes.
May this season of repentance
bring us the blessing of Your forgiveness
and the gift of Your light.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes

Today marks the first apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1858 to fourteen-year-old Marie Bernade (St. Bernadette) Soubirous. Between February 11 and July 16, 1858, the Blessed Virgin appeared eighteen times, and showed herself to St. Bernadette in the hollow of the rock at Lourdes. On March 25 she said to the little shepherdess who was only fourteen years of age: "I am the Immaculate Conception." Since then Lourdes has become a place of pilgrimage and many cures and conversions have taken place. The message of Lourdes is a call to personal conversion, prayer, and charity.   

Prayer
Grant us, O merciful God, protection in our weakness,
that we, who keep the Memorial of the Immaculate Mother of God,
may, with the help of her intercession,
rise up from our iniquities.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
